Utility CJSC: New horizons of glass recycling
Nowadays we can hear a lot about crisis and recession. But also it could heard voices telling that crisis is difficult but still it is changes which finally open the way for new ideas and start ups. Company Utility is following devoted to its principal which tells that reasonable ideas should be supported by activities in any case. It has been just confirmed with production results in year 2009. In the period of mixed economic feelings there were processed 110 000 tonnes of cullet. Such result confirms additional to stability of company work and also demonstrates huge contribution in saving the environment of our planet. This is cullet which avoided landfills. To imagine such volume we can give simple example: Such quantity of cullet would cover a football pitch to a high of eight floors building. As additional positive influence for environment it could be mentioned reduction of 31 000 tonnes CO2 emissions. And by the way there was saved thousands tonnes of sand, soda ash and limestone.
For to sure further increasing of recycling rates and sales diversification CJSC Utility prepares to develop production of unique material called foam glass. This is new product for countries of our region which is used by construction as bulk material (e.g. filler of insulation levels under buildings and roads) and as a main component by production of blocks, bricks and other forms. During implementation of this target a delegation of Norwegian company Norsk GlassGjenvinning AS, recognized European leader in this filed, will visit Ukraine at the begging of March 2010. Negotiations will take place concerning a supply of equipment for foam glass production. Very revealing the situation is that in Norway almost all quantity of waste glass being used for foam glass production.
Company Utility is going on actively participate by work of European Federation of Glass Recyclers (FERVER) being its full member. On the 5th of March in Brussels in a headquarter of the Federation there will take place meeting of Steering Committee. Among other questions there will be discussed further steps in cooperation with European Commission concerning implementation of General European program "End of Waste" and developing of general European rules for glass recycling market. Company Utility plans to participate actively in work of Steering Committee.
